Customer Challenge
ChicWalks had a unique vision: to create strategically organized shopping walks for fashion capitals worldwide. ChicWalks also had an ambitious deadline. The company wanted to create and showcase its Vancouver shopping walk in a mobile app in time for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, when hundreds of thousands of visitors would flood into the city.
Solution
Using the CellTouch platform, Conquer Mobile and ChicWalks teams united to get a mobile app created within a record two and half months. ChicWalks Vancouver Shopping app was launched via the Apple iTunes store just before Christmas 2009, with plenty of time for the 2010 Olympics.
Features include: 10 walks and digital exclusive offers, in-app GPS-mapping, favorites, push notifications that alert users of new content and nearest-me tinting, a feature that visually highlights walks closest to the user’s location.
As well as producing an iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad product, a mobile web version was also created to work on other smartphone platforms, including Blackberry, Samsung, Nokia and Google phones (Android).
Impact
- Featured by Apple on the iTunes app store home page during February and March, ChicWalks went viral for 3 three weeks straight in six different countries (Canada, USA, Brazil, Mexico, Korea), hit the top 10 lifestyle apps list and was downloaded by thousands every day
- Featured in many ‘must-have apps for the Olympics’ lists including CTV, NBC affiliate Portland-KGW, FMA and Novus TV, MacWorld, Flare magazine, BC Business magazine, Montreal Gazette, Vancouver Sun, Business in Vancouver, and many others
- The only app featured during a Global BC News Hour story about the introduction of the iPad in Canada on opening sale day
